MECASOL project brings partners together to discuss case studies
PROJECT PARTNERS
The MECASOL project (Technical feasibility study of the improvement of quality and productivity in welding through the processing of data on welding parameters for manufacturers of pressure vessels and wind towers), held last Friday 23rd a meeting with all its partners to deepen the activities to be developed in the framework of the project. The MECASOL project involves 5 partners: The Polo del Acero cluster, the companies Asturfeito, Windar Renovables and Tuinsa, and the Technological Center ITMA Foundation, having obtained funding for its development within the framework of the 2018 call for grants for Innovative Business Associations of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism.
The aim of the project is to visualize and integrate data obtained from state-of-the-art welding sources for quality control and adaptation of advanced MIG/MAG processes, adaptation to be done by adjusting critical welding parameters to advanced consumable formats, with improved mechanical properties and higher
deposition ratio.
In this sense, the project will also rely on the information generated during the joining process, collected by the software of the manufacturing equipment, incorporating 4.0 data processing technologies in order to obtain processes that allow it to be more efficient, in time and price, for the determined study cases.
Finally, the project will present the results of the study next March to the partners of the manufacturing and joining technologies group of the Steel Cluster.
The Steel Cluster is an association whose objectives include the promotion of technological collaboration, the design, promotion and management of R&D&I projects, the promotion of collaborative projects that allow the development and transfer of R&D&I results within the scope of their respective business activities, the exchange of experiences and results, and the provision of information and dissemination to companies.
It is currently in the process of obtaining the seal of excellence at European level, which includes the indicators of its activity, with the aim of promoting a growth strategy while boosting R&D activity in the steel production and transformation processes.
